G. Scott Jones, M.D.

As a proud graduate and dedicated supporter of Mississippi State University, Dr. Jones was excited to join our Mississippi State University orthopedic and sports medicine team over 25 years ago. He has been Team Physician for multiple MSU SEC Championship teams, including a Final Four appearance and a baseball National Championship. He also extends his expertise to local high schools and Mississippi University for Women. Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Jones has addressed a wide range of injuries, from major sports injuries like torn ACLs, dislocated shoulders, and rotator cuff tears to more minor issues such as broken fingers, sprained ankles, and muscle strains.

Dr. Jones is committed to creating personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs, whether they are athletes, retirees, weekend warriors, or injured workers. His approach emphasizes conservative treatments, particularly physical and occupational therapy. For more severe injuries, he considers surgical options to help patients return to their favorite activities.

In addition to treating injuries of the knee, hip, shoulder, hand, and ankle, Dr. Jones provides care for patients dealing with post-traumatic arthritis or osteoarthritis. For those requiring total joint replacements, such as knee, hip, or shoulder surgeries, he offers comprehensive care, including support from a dedicated nurse case manager throughout the process. Many procedures can be performed at the adjacent outpatient surgery center, allowing patients to recover comfortably at home the same day as their surgery.

A native of Starkville, Mississippi, Dr. Jones graduated Magna Cum Laude from Mississippi State University with a degree in Biochemistry. He earned his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. Dr. Jones is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Understanding the importance of family time, Dr. Jones enjoys spending quality moments with his wife, three children, and two sons-in-law. He is also an enthusiastic hunter.
