Stephanie L. Whitmire, Occupational Medicine Nurse Practitioner

Stephanie holds a master’s degree in nursing, is board-certified as an Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC) and is both a Certified Medical Examiner (CME) and a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (C-OHC). Her specialized training includes Emergency Medicine, Primary Care, Orthopedics, Wound Care, and Trauma certification. Stephanie is trained in conducting DOT physicals and pre-employment exams, making her a valuable asset to our newly launched Occupational Medicine department.

Stephanie’s interest in Occupational Medicine stems from a personal health challenge that impacted her ability to work efficiently while she worked locally as a home health nurse. This experience fueled her dedication to creating supportive work environments and understanding the challenges faced by employees dealing with health issues. It also gives her personal insight into the impact of workplace illness.
Stephanie’s patient care philosophy is to deliver efficient, patient-centered care to our community’s working individuals, helping them return to their roles as safely and swiftly as possible. She is passionate about aiding in patient recovery and finds joy in supporting her patients’ return to work.

Outside of her professional life, Stephanie is dedicated to her husband, Brandon and their 2 grown children. She has a sincere love for family and enjoys spending time outside. Stephanie has a deep-rooted Christian faith and strives for excellence in all aspects of her life. She loves playing with their many pets, gardening, bird watching, singing, travelling, and decorating, which reflects her vibrant personality and commitment to a balanced life.

 Education: Master’s degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, 2020.

 Experience: 20 years in diverse healthcare, with expertise in Adult Primary Care, emergency medicine, wound care, orthopedics, and home health.

• Nationally certified in Adult Primary Care
• Trauma certified (TNCC)
• Certified Medical Examiner for DOT physicals
• Breath Alcohol Technician Collector & Instructor
• DOT urine drug collector and instructor
• NIOSH-approved Pulmonary Function Training to perform and interpret spirometry.
• CAOHC certified to perform and interpret audiometry.
• Board eligible through AANP to become nationally certified in Occupational and Environmental Medicine pending 3000 hours of practice.

Additional Skills: 

 Certified in ACLS, PALS, BLS, CPI, and NIHSS.
