Common questions about work injuries

Mississippi law lets an injured worker accept the doctor the employer provides or pick one competent physician of their own choosing, plus specialists that physician refers them to. That is your one choice of treating physician. See MWCC General Rule 1.9 and Miss. Code Ann. § 71-3-15. The statute says that, except in an emergency, choosing more doctors or getting more referrals must be approved by the employer. Read more: choosing your doctor after a work injury.

Bring your photo ID, your employer’s contact information, and your claim number and adjuster information if you have them. Employers can send the Workers’ Compensation Initial Authorization Form ahead of the visit.
